The World of Harry Potter

22nd April – Monday

Yesterday evening was spent with Justin and Simon, sharing a very enjoyable meal at the Zedel Brasserie. It was wonderful to catch up with them again.

No way did the coats get removed today!!!
Very early this morning, we boarded a special double decker bus for the journey to Warner Brothers studio and the Making of Harry Potter feature. We had a great time learning not only about the magic of Harry Potter, but also the magic of film making. Many of the original sets have been reconstructed, as well as original costumes and props being on display. The mystique of broomstick riding disappeared quickly once we discovered the broom was attached to a large mechanical arm. We wandered down Diagon Alley before we met the amazing sight of the model of Hogwarts which was used in the film. Everyone who entered the space containing the model uttered the word, “Wow!” and that described it exactly. Of course, the exit was via the gift shop with its many and varied overpriced souvenirs, but unfortunately (or is that fortunately?) Weasley’s Puking Pastilles were not on sale. Cat was a little hesitant at times when faced with some of the scarier characters but did recover well to enjoy a glass of butter beer (which was very sweet!). We were all, including Cat, given the chance to fly on a broom stick as well as the Ford Anglia.

Time to pack the cases again as we head to Paris tomorrow morning.
