Himself spent time this morning completing setting up our
living space, with both sun/wind screens now in position and chairs and tables
set up. He was also able to have time to
continue reading his latest Kindle download.
The people from the Cairns Zoo actually turned out to be
from Hartley’s Crocodiles and had two pythons, a small crocodile and a
beautiful, young Major Mitchell cockatoo with them. It was a really interesting and informative
hour, especially learning that the Redlynch valley (where we are now) was one
known as Taipan Junction! We were
assured that there are no taipans anywhere near the caravan park now. Mmmmmm …
I then decided to allow a local doctor to practice his minor
surgery skills on a lesion on my right palm (my bowling hand!!!), and will know
next week if further surgery will be necessary.
Because I had been so brave, I was taken into Cairns this afternoon for our first Movenpick
icecream of the season; as it has been so long since our last visit, a double
header was definitely the order of the day.

Today is our 43rd wedding anniversary and a
lovely white pot plant was delivered with the morning newspaper.
Very humid today – which translates to frequent light rain
showers – so decided it was time to check out the changes at DFO. The centre has been enlarged, some businesses
have disappeared, new businesses have appeared; will return for a more detailed
inspection at a later date.
After lunch, we were pleasantly surprised to see Gladys and
Graeme (also bowlers from Hobart )
wander past, so spent and hour or so catching up on news. Dinner tonight was at a restaurant along the
waterfront – and it RAINED!
Cat is shedding badly today – he doesn’t appreciate the warm
and humid weather at all.
