Laid back |
Another week just seems to have slipped by without any
effort; the weather continues to be sunny and very warm. Now that August has arrived, the temperature
has gone up a degree and the sun’s intensity has gone up much more!
Apart from our regular walks and bowls on Tuesday evening,
our major outing this week was on Thursday when we drove to Port Douglas to
meet a couple we first met in Europe in 2007.
We have met up with John and Brenda nearly every year since, as they holiday
in Port Douglas the same time we are in Cairns.
Our lunch this year was at the High Falls Farm Restaurant, situated in
the hills north of Mossman. Being so
close to the Daintree, the weather was very overcast and very humid. The restaurant was a large verandah set on
the banks of a small river and surrounded by rainforest and a tropical fruit
orchard. We returned to Port Douglas and
a small coffee shop at the end of the Bally Hooly’s train line, looking out
over the Mirage Resort’s golf course.
On Friday, we paid our weekly visit to Rusty’s Market and
took the opportunity to stop for an ice cream.
The remainder of the week just seemed to pass without much effort.
