Wednesday in Cairns
Wednesday, 1 August 2012
Yesterday morning, we said goodbye – again!!! – to Denise and Barry and hope there holiday isn’t interrupted again. Of course, they couldn’t leave until Barry had received his morning caffeine fix at our “coffee shop.”
Grocery shopping and attempting to buy new light globes (the lady in the shop was positive the bulbs she wanted us to buy would fit - the didn't!) seemed to fill the remainder of the day before we headed off for our usual Tuesday night game of bowls. This week it was Les’ turn to win a meat voucher – the club really look after visiting bowlers.
This morning we were surprised to see James and Maureen drive in at 9.30 am after returning from their trip to Cape York. The car was very clean (supposedly washed at Weipa?) and we are wondering if they really went to the Cape or spent the last ten days at Port Douglas.
This afternoon we attended the opening of the caravan park’s new eco-friendly cabins – Martin Ferguson (the Federal Minister) did the honours and then joined us for afternoon tea afterwards. A great spread generously supplied by the owners, Russell and Jenine. We were lucky to have a look through one of the units and were very impressed with the stylish spa bathroom – the rest of the unit was pretty good, too. Les even tried the eco-friendly phone charger which looked very much like a bike in a cupboard, but was definitely hooked into the power supply somehow.
We have heard that Eva and her family will be joining us at the caravan park for a few nights from Saturday.

Tessie says - Is The Cat in quarantine? No photos for 2 blogs now. Maybe The Cat has been naughty and is spending time in 'time out'.
