December 2015
We were up bright and early, showered, dressed, the house
cleaned and suitcases locked before 8.30 am.
This left us plenty of time to sit and twiddle the proverbial thumbs
waiting for Diane to pick us up at 10.00 am.
After a phone call from said daughter explaining the pavlova in the oven
was more important that taking us to the airport, we had a further 30 minutes
of twiddling time.
Check in was a breeze (yay for Qantas Club membership)
and as we joined the long queue for security, we were taken aside for explosive
checks and then taken to the front of the line for x-ray scanning. Our flight to Sydney departed on time and we
had a very bumpy ride for a while – probably due to the very hot
temperatures. We were even served a hot
lunch (pie and sauce) but, unfortunately, the onboard iPads were
not functioning.
On checking in to the Rydges Sydney Airport Hotel, we
were given an upgrade to a king room, only to discover the king bed had morphed
into two singles. Whilst not huge, the
room is certainly of an adequate size, the beds are very comfortable and the
ensuite modern and clean.
The weather in Hobart was very similar to Sydney – HOT and
windy. It didn’t take Cat very long to
remove his scarf!
