With our grandson, Jack, due to arrive on Friday evening, Friday was spent stocking up the pantry and refrigerator, as well as a trip to Cairns Central for a couple of extra t-shirts. Another hot day had clouded over by the time we arrived at the airport for his 7.30pm arrival, turning to a light misty drizzle. Jack did look rather relieved to see us as he came through the arrival gate and his “Priority” luggage was one of the last suitcases to appear on the carousel. Back at the caravan, we decided to erect his tent under the cover of the awning before moving it out onto the grass. All went well as we unpacked his suitcase, found the two pieces of the tent and then discovered it was going to be a little claustrophobic without the tent poles. A quick phone call to his father revealed the poles and pegs still in Jack’s bedroom. Jack is spending four nights sleeping under the awning until the mail arrives on Tuesday!
Saturday morning was still a bit misty, so a visit to the supermarket for even more food, followed by a walk past the sugar cane fields, filled in the morning. Following lunch, it was time to visit Rusty’s to stock up on fruit, together with some tropical fruit that Jack selected. The soursop was eaten today (thoroughly enjoyable, by all accounts), with the red dragon fruit and custard apple still ripening in the fruit bowl. Then it was a walk around the Lagoon, a look at the low tide mud and a stop at Movenpick for an ice cream and thick shake. Today has been a quiet day at home, with an introduction to the fish, a bike ride and quite a few visits to the swimming pool filling in Jack’s day.
