Palm Cove

Saturday, 3 August 2013

Friday was a weather magic day – clear skies, no wind and very warm. To take advantage of the conditions, we headed for Palm Cove, and its crocodile. The lack of wind really brought the tourists to the beach to soak up the sun and there were even a few people willing to risk a swim. With regular crocodile sightings on this beach, we opted for a walk along the sand away from the water’s edge. The caravan park development is nearly finished, with work still underway on the foreshore development. It was very pleasant sitting on the verandah of a coffee shop cum restaurant, with a warm tropical breeze wafting in from the Coral Sea. We both felt that we should return in the near future – when the weather is perfect, of course.

I received a very welcome email late in the day informing me I had won two tickets to the Australian Festival of Chamber Music performance on Sunday evening.

Saturday started out nice and sunny but a few showers did develop during the afternoon. Himself is keeping the jewellers in Cairns very happy as his watch went to Heaven yesterday. We ran the gamut of the jewellery shop assistants (some of them are very “forceful”) in Cairns Central this morning before making a purchase. Then it was to Rusty’s Market for the fresh produce before returning to the caravan. Cat spent the morning catching up on some reading.

This afternoon we have supported the local Freshwater Primary School Fair and are now waiting for the telephone call/s tomorrow and Monday to let us know what we have won. Counting the mosquitoes (dengue stall) was probably the most challenging.
