Our lunch stop view

Emus

Not much out there except saltbush

The weather today was a bit of a rude shock to the system – very wintry.  As we left Forbes, we could see ominous clouds to the west, right where we were headed.  The truckies have all returned from their day off yesterday, as well, with plenty of traffic to keep us company.

With a strong head wind, we topped up the fuel at West Wyalong, just to be sure, to be sure, before taking the highway to Hay.  Without doubt, unequivocally, no argument and most definitely, New South Wales has the worst roads in Australia!!!  And I always seem to cop a bad bit when I am driving!  At least the traffic wasn’t as heavy as the Newell Highway.  We had a quick stop and driver change at Rankin Springs before our lunch stop at Gundar.  Not much happens at Gundar.  The most excitement we had on the trip was meeting three large harvesters (the driver of the escort vehicle was most reluctant to talk to us) and three emus.

We are spending the night at the Big4 Hay Plains, which is right on the Murrumbidgee River.  This is a quite small park with good amenities and we have a nice drive-thru grassy site.
