Another clear and cool start to the day; the heater is being
put to good use each morning now. After
a leisurely start to the day, and a chat to our neighbours from Port Sorell, we
headed into Bourke proper and the Back o’ Bourke Centre and the Outback
Show. This was such great entertainment,
the man who starred was such a character with some never heard before
jokes. The animals were also so well
trained, especially the camel which told a joke about Prince Charles (it doesn’t
translate to words, sorry), the soccer playing camel, the “sick” horse, the
bullocks and the working dogs. We were
also kept entertained by a large flock of red tailed black cockatoos – such
large and noisy birds. After the show,
we had a look at the Crossley steam engine and the reconstructed wharf, with
its views of the Darling River.
The flies have been breeding since we arrived – there are
now 8,917,647 and I did manage to send one to fly heaven.
