Waiting for bunnies?

Coffs Creek

Marina

Welcoming committee

The weather yesterday was nearly perfect, clear skies and no wind, with the temperature reaching about 22 degrees.  We had about a two hour drive to Coffs Harbour and checked into the North Coast Holiday Park, which was actually at the Showgrounds and only two blocks from the main shopping district and a bowling club on the opposite corner.  It was a very nice park, with large sites, either slab or grass, sunny or shady.  The amenities were a bit older style but clean and okay.

During the afternoon we decided on a walk to the Botanic Gardens, which are behind the Showgrounds (according to the map!).  After following the track for some time, and dodging bike riders, we discovered we were actually in the Showgrounds, but on the other side.  We continued our walk around the Showgrounds.  We left the kangaroos behind at South West Rocks and welcomed bunnies to our site – Cat was much happier.

Today, the caravan went to hospital for day surgery and like anxious parents, we sat around at the jetty and marina for most of the morning before heading back into the town centre for lunch.  Shortly after lunch we returned for the patient and were happy to learn that all is well and we can now smell much better.  We were very impressed with the service at ABCO Caravan Repairs, the caravan had a nice blue bracelet around the jockey wheel which matched the one on my key ring, and the refrigerator had even been turned back to AC as the caravan was connected to power during the work.

We only had a thirty minute drive north to Darlington Beach NRMA Holiday Park – a fabulous caravan park just north of Coffs Harbour.  It is right on the beach but not beachy.  Lovely green grass, gum trees, very tropical; even has a three rink bowling green, a nine hole golf course, archery, tennis, pool, jumping pillows, restaurant and kiosk, kangaroos wandering around and an abundance of bird life.  Reception staff were very friendly and helpful and the amenities are modern and excellent.  We are looking forward to have three nights here and a bit of a rest.

I suspect that you will be spending a lot of time using the jumping pillows.
