Enjoying a short period of sunshine! |
It didn’t take long on Tuesday morning
in Brisbane for the threatening weather to once again turn to rain. In fact, it rained steadily all the way to
the Sunshine Coast, it rained steadily as we set up and it rained steadily for
the remainder of the day.
We are at the Alex Beach Cabins
& Tourist Park at Alexandra Headlands – a nice park only a very short
distance from the beach. We have a
double slab and grass, all very clean and neat.
The park is mainly cabins with only about 40 caravan sites but very
convenient to the Sunshine Plaza at Maroochydore and also to Mooloolaba.
We have had a fairly quiet time
on the Sunshine Coast – not a lot of sunshine to be seen! – with a visit to the
bowls shop for a new bowls bag and some bright red shoes, which should cause a
few mutters from the old ladies back home.
We have also been appliance shopping because the coffee maker decided to
leak water through the workings onto the bench (not a good look) and the frying
pan developed some nasty looking rust spots.
All our electrical appliances have now been replaced!
Last night we joined two other
couples from our bowls club who are also staying in the area and enjoyed a meal
at the Mooloolaba Surf Club. Our
instructions were to follow the other couples in their car, but unfortunately
their navigator became rather geographically embarrassed and we saw lots of
back streets through the dark and rain.
Today we drove south to Caloundra, never having been there before and
decided that the Maroochydore area was probably the better place to stay.
Tomorrow, we head north once
again, pushing towards the tropics and some warmer and drier weather,
hopefully.
