Wedding Anniversary

Wednesday, 3rd July

Today is our 42nd wedding anniversary.

Today is also the second day of being “on holiday” and Leslie has quickly slipped into holiday mode – he thought about washing the car, he thought about washing a bit of the caravan and is still thinking about emptying the toilet canister! In fact, he has been so busy thinking, that it was lunch time before he even finished reading the newspaper.

Yesterday was one of those technological days we prefer not to have. It started out with me receiving a premium sms, despite a bar being in place on my telephone. My computer also decided that I should be receiving ads for well endowed ladies overlaid over the top of whatever I had opened on the internet (I rather suspect the two instances were connected). First up was a call for help to the IT Girl in Hobart for assistance with the computer bug and thanks to the marvels of modern technology, and half an hour’s work, a lady in Hobart was able to solve a problem for a lady in Cairns.

Next stop was at a Telstra shop to try and sort out the premium sms receipt – techie support lady in the shop said the bar didn’t apply to receiving these expensive messages. I tended to have a different opinion, and insisted the matter be resolved. The offer of a free phone call from their shop to accounts was accepted and, surprise, the bar does apply to receiving charged texts. Accounts were mystified as to how the message got through the bar, but guess what I have to do if I get charged on my next account? Go back to Telstra and they will credit the charge and follow it up. How boring life would be without Telstra.

While we were in the centre of Cairns, we took the opportunity to walk around the lagoon (just to keep Himself happy!) and stroll along the boardwalk until we came to our favourite ice cream shop. As soon as we walked up to the counter, the lady remembered us from last year and also said that our grandson, who was on crutches at the time, had called in for a waffle after we departed last year. A memory like that deserved a sale! The ice cream is just as good this year.

Today, the morning just seemed to disappear, despite a quick trip to the supermarket and a visit to the ironing room (aka laundry). It has been much more humid today, so this afternoon we had a lovely walk along Freshwater Creek – very pleasant under the trees. Tonight, we have a dinner planned at Barnacle Bill’s.
