Father's Day

Sunday, 5 September

Father’s Day, and only a relatively short drive today to Albany – 65 kms. It has been a very dreary, overcast and cool day. Not having a street map of Albany, we had to rely totally on TomTom to get us to the caravan park. Unfortunately, the shortest route was via some rather narrow and steep back streets!

We are at the Middleton Beach Holiday Park, which is right on the beach at Albany. It is a small park and we have a double concrete slab for the caravan – some sites would be a bit tight to back into. The amenities are good, but the best part is the whales! A quick look at the beach turned into a much longer look, with so many whales just off the beach. There were a couple only about 50 metres out, with some more not much further out. It was almost as if they knew there was a large audience on the beach and in boats, with much fin waving, standing on heads and tail thumping.

Most of the afternoon has been occupied with a football game!

We have decided to have three nights here, before undertaking the long drive across the Nullabor.

(Some more photos from yesterday.)
