Our 39th wedding anniversary!
The weather was a bit cooler this morning – the washing took an hour and a half to dry. Fortunately, the humidity hasn’t been as bad today as previous days.
This morning we visited the Telstra shop – again – and a nice lady solved my problem. (I have a sneaking suspicion that the nice man on Thursday didn’t insert the SIM card correctly.) Then it was a quick testosterone fix at Bunnings – not to buy anything, just a look. We do have to buy another chair as “someone” broke the arm on his the other night; it is just a matter of finding a store in Darwin that sells Coleman chairs.
A number of our neighbours departed this morning, so when the first of the new arrivals turned up shortly before lunch, we didn’t think there would be much entertainment involved as they looked very professional. After about 30 minutes of shuffling, it became a bit embarrassing as we tried to pretend we couldn’t see them. Poor bloke then couldn’t get any power to his caravan and we ended up lending him our spare lead to try. Bingo! He will be off to Bunnings now!!!
This afternoon we checked out the Darwin Botanic Gardens – a very pleasant afternoon spent wandering among the rain forest plants, able to spend most of the time in the shade. This is a really lovely area, well worth a visit. A Wesleyan Methodist Church, which has survived 18 cyclones and WWII bombing, has been relocated to the gardens, right beside the fountain.
After leaving the gardens we drove out to Lee Point, which is really a reserve and a long beach with lots of coral on and in the sand. The tide was out as well, so there was also some mud well out. Again, like all Darwin beaches, not a place for swimming!

Congratulations - Hope you celebrate 39 years of marriage in style in Darwin. What is it about men and Bunnings??!!
Thanks for the phone call, Pauline.
