Winter has arrived; time to head further north. Cat was still complaining of a headache this
morning but didn’t receive any sympathy for self-inflicted problems!
It was a very cold and clear morning in Cessnock when we
left, with a brisk southerly helping with fuel consumption today. Travelling was quite easy, with the
majority of the driving on the Pacific
Highway – and not too much traffic. We only had a couple of short stops for
driver changes before turning off to Bonny Hills, just south of Port
Macquarie. This is a seaside village,
which would be very busy during holiday periods.
We are staying at the Big4 Bonny Hills Holiday Park, which
is a very nice park set amongst melaleuca and gum trees, right on the
beach. We have a large site with a
double slab and plenty of room for the vehicle.
The amenities are in the process of being refurbished and there is
plenty to keep children occupied. After
lunch, we decided to have a walk along the beach (to help remove some of yesterday’s
calories) but discovered that owing to the recent heavy rains, there were two
swiftly flowing creeks running onto the beach.
We only had about 100 metres to walk without having to get our feet wet! There are numerous signs about the park
warning not to feed the wildlife, with pictures of kangaroos and koalas – we
might have to do a bit of spotlighting tonight. I think that during warmer weather, they might also be some slithering wildlife, too.
