Sunny Queensland

Wednesday, 17 June 2015

This is getting boring

The rain returned overnight Monday and Tuesday morning was very, very soggy.  One of us sat under the awning and watched the rain all morning while the other spent the morning at the hairdressers.  We picked up Graeme and Gladys at noon and headed to Buderim for lunch.  Graeme did assure us that the views from the Buderim Tavern were magnificent, we just couldn’t see them for the rain and cloud.  However, the rain did finally stop and we were able to see the ocean and many kilometres both to the north and south.  The meal was “interesting,” in that while everyone else received what they had ordered, my ordered of battered snapper, salad and chips (without capsicum or chilli) had become a large amount of lettuce, two very tiny pieces of tomato, a few carrot shreds and three small strips of grilled fish, which had spent an inordinate amount of time under the grill.  After sending it back, the plate was subsequently returned with the chef’s comment that this was all he would provide owing to a chilli allergy.  Not happy, Jan.  I eventually settled for a very nice meat pie and the restaurant manager found the time to come to the table and explain the chef’s decision.  The dining room and views were lovely, the company was great, but lack of communication from staff was an issue.

Today, Wednesday, we both were up in time to see the sunrise – except it was raining again.  The Pajero had to be at the dealers before 7.30 for its diagnostics; poor thing turned out to have a bit of a valve problem.  (I should have kept the lettuce from the plate, yesterday!)  The part was replaced and the problem has now been rectified (hopefully).  The forecast heavy rain has arrived and looks like continuing for some time.

Tomorrow we move further north to Hervey Bay and some sunny weather – fingers crossed!
