Decisions, decisions |
The overnight showers were still happening as we packed up
this morning, in fact, it was rather murky.
As we headed north, we noticed more and more vehicles heading south –
for the long weekend break, no doubt.
From Tweed Heads onwards, southbound traffic was bumper to bumper; so
glad we were heading north. Once across
the border into Queensland,
the rain and clouds disappeared, the sun came out and the temperature started
to rise.
We are staying at the Brisbane Holiday
Village, which is about
15 minutes from Southbank and very close to the Westfield Garden City Shopping
Centre. This Top Tourist park is
extremely neat (I don’t think a blade of grass would dare grow longer than its
neighbours!), extremely large (mainly cabins and permanents), excellent
amenities and all the usual pools, restaurant, etc. We were extremely lucky to get the emergency,
emergency overflow site (fortunately we rang a few days ago), which is nice and
grassy with power and water, but $51 per night is rather expensive.
This afternoon we made the 15 minute drive to Southbank and Doris found the carpark without any trouble. It was very pleasant walking along the river
front and through the parks and market – lots of interesting people to
watch. Himself also decided that as he
is now in Queensland,
it is time to wear shorts! The legs
could have done with a bit of fake tan.
We also found our favourite ice cream is also sold at Southbank – made
our afternoon.
